Webber on the front row again for European Grand Prix

In somewhat of a surprise Qualifying in Valencia turned into anbattle between the 2 Red Bulls. On this occassion Vettel took the honors claiming pole.

Webber has not qualified lower than second since the first race of 2010 in Bahrain, but, like Seb, he was surprised by the competitiveness of the RB6 chassis at a circuit where the team had not expected to be so fast.

"It'll be a tough race tomorrow," he said, "with McLaren and Ferrari coming at us, "but we've got plenty of ammo in the locker for a good fight."
One new bit of ‘ammo’ is the duct system that will race on the RB6 for the first time. It's designed to give Mark and Seb more top speed, but fitting it to the tight confines of a F1 car has proved a tough challenge for the team's designers and mechanics.

"I think they only had one hour's sleep last night," Webber said. "And when you look in their eyes and see their hard work, the best way to say 'thank you' is to put both cars on the front. We just do a bit of driving."

Vettel, meanwhile, was delighted with his fourth pole of the year – his first since the Chinese GP in April.

"The team said 'welcome back'," he laughed. "I didn't realise I'd been away!"

Like Webber he anticipated a tough Sunday challenge from McLaren's Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari's Fernando Alonso, who start in P3 and P4. But the hardest fight, he hinted, would be with his team-mate. When asked if there was any danger of a repeat of the Turkish GP clash with Webber, he said: "Well you can never say never! Seriously we have learned a lot from that but we don't want to look too much at the past."
"We're racing drivers," Webber added. "If we see a gap we'll go for it. That's what we do."

But gaps may be few and far between tomorrow. The two previous races here have been rather processional and with the tyres behaving themselves here, we may not be seeing a repeat of the epic Montreal race.
